NADIN Linecard Certified by FAA

Ottawa, Canada - Nov.  7, 2003 - The Federal Aviation Administration of the United States has officially certified the Ubitech Systems NADIN (National Airspace Data Interchange Network) protocol.

The NADIN protocol was developed by the FAA to help ensure that all aeronautical communications reach their target destination without losing a single piece of data. NADIN operates on a X.25 packet network; to verify message transmission NADIN protocol requires a two-level handshake between sender and receiver. At each level the receiver confirms that it has received the data in the proper order, conversely, the sender verifies that the data has been properly received by the intended target.

After weeks of testing between FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center (WJHTC), Curaçao, and Ubitech Systems the Ubitech NADIN Interface fully conforms to the necessary features outlined by the FAA.

Presently, ATM providers offer expensive solutions for meeting the NADIN protocol. In most cases, a separate CPU containing a third-party X.25 card that links to the message switch is required. This solution is not only expensive, but the use of an additional CPU also adds an extra point of failure. The NADIN developed by Ubitech Systems removes that extra point of failure by having the NADIN interface installed directly into Ubitech's Line Cards; the Ubitech solution is also available at a highly competitive cost. In addition to the NADIN interface, every line card designed and manufactured by Ubitech Systems has a dual port interface which ensures system redundancy beginning with the line card.
