Bangkok, Thailand - July 19, 2010 – Ubitech is proud to announce that Aeronautical Radio of Thailand (Aerothai) has granted their acceptance of Ubitech's Ubimex AMHS and Spatia AIS/AIM systems after a strenuous Site Acceptance Test (SAT) Protocol. The SAT Protocol, consisting of over 600 tests and endorsed by Aerothai"s project committee, underlines the maturity and robustness of Ubitech’s AMHS and AIS/AIM systems.
Ubitech was contracted in March 2008 to provide the AMHS and AIS/AIM systems to Aerothai by Prime Contractor Athi Telecom of Thailand. Very quickly Ubitech mobilized its project team and hosted training courses at the factory for Aerothai’s operators and engineers in April 2008 which was also attended by Athi Telecom’s engineers. The training was immediately followed by a successful Factory Acceptance Test Protocol in early May 2008. Under extremely tight timelines, Ubitech’s project team was able to build and ship both systems to Bangkok for the commencement of installation at the end of May 2008. With the assistance of Athi Telecom’s engineers, the systems were successfully installed in June 2008, only 3 months after the establishment of the contract.
After installation, Ubitech began working with Aerothai’s operator and engineering groups to customize the systems to their unique operational procedures. During this process, Ubitech demonstrated to Aerothai its next-generation AMHS User Agent developed as a rich internet application using Adobe Flex technology. Aerothai recognized the obvious operational benefits of the new User Agent and an agreement was struck for them to actively participate in its further development and become its first launch customer. The project shifted focus from systems implementation to large scale software development with Aerothai and Athi Telecom’s personnel working closely with Ubitech’s engineers to design and build what is now the industry leading User Agent application and which performed above expectations during the SAT. As a next step, Ubitech, Athi Telecom, and Aerothai continue to work as partners as they plan for AMHS interoperability testing with neighbouring states and system commissioning in the near future.
Upon commissioning, Aerothai’s AMHS system will be the most advanced operational AMHS in the world. The system is planned to evolve from the current 200 users to over 1000 users distributed around the country of Thailand at all international and domestic airports in addition to Aerothai’s HQ in Bangkok. The system is ready to meet Aerothai’s current and future requirements as ICAO’s amendment to DOC 4444 regarding the flight plan formats and content have already been implemented, while future amendments can be quickly and easily implemented to maintain compliance to international standards. As message traffic levels increase in throughput and message size, the AMHS system presents no barriers as the system can support traffic levels well in excess of the estimated increases as well as no technical limit on the size of messages and attachments. All of Ubitech’s customers can take confidence in the fact that unlike other AMHS suppliers, Ubitech has developed and maintains 100% of the AMHS software. This allows Ubitech to fully tailor the system to unique customer requirements and ensures that Ubitech alone can provide the highest level of support directly to our customers.
